Big Sister and Little Sister of the Year- Barbara and Flora

Big Sister and Little Sister of the Year- Barbara and Flora

Big Sister Barbara and Little Sister Flora were originally matched in the Site-Based program in December 2017. Since that time, Barbara and Flora have enjoyed going to the park for picnics, going to a corn maze, the botanical gardens, Dollywood, and have participated in numerous BBBS-ETN sponsored events. In addition to Barbara and Flora’s outings, Flora’s mom has included Barbara in several family celebrations and outings. The Match also makes a natural effort to befriend new Bigs and Littles and make new friends together. Barbara has been a resource for several BBBS-ETN promotions and media spots and has shared her experience as a Big Sister to encourage others to consider mentoring with BBBS-ETN. Last year, Barbara and Flora spent time together placing yard signs throughout Anderson County to spread the word of mentorship and hopefully expand BBBS-ETN’s reach in outlying counties. Barbara has also joined our agency’s new advisory committee, the Big Council, to assist staff with program and recruitment initiatives. Barbara and Flora continue to encourage each other to reach their full potential and are a model of true friendship!
Big Brother and Little Brother of the Year- Glenn and Coogie

Big Brother and Little Brother of the Year- Glenn and Coogie

Big Brother Glenn and Little Brother Coogie began their friendship as a Site-Based Match in February 2013. For 10 years, the pair has enjoyed many exciting outings together including trips to adventure parks, watching movies, trying new foods, playing football, and going to church. Both leaders in our East Tennessee community, Coogie serves on the Mayor’s Youth Council and BBBS-ETN’s Youth Council and Glenn is a member of the BBBS-ETN Big Council. Coogie has plans to attend college to become a real estate agent, and Glenn is there to support him by writing recommendations for his college and scholarship applications. Glenn and Coogie were also named the 2023 Tennessee Big Brother and Little Brother of the Year. Check out their spotlight on WBIR. Thank you for your powerful example of mentorship!
