BBBS Celebrates the Season at Annual Holiday Party

Knoxville, Tenn.– Christmas came early for the matches, staff and board members of Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Tennessee (BBBS). Presents, music, crafts, a photo booth and an inspiring message combined to make one rockin’ holiday party on December 4th, 2015.

The BBBS Annual Holiday party was the start of the giving season for some, including the University of Tennessee’s Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and guest speaker, Antone Davis. Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity organized a wrapped-gift drive for the Little Brothers and Sisters of BBBS. Antone Davis, a former Professional Football player, UT Football Alum and past contestant on the Biggest Loser, delivered an inspirational message on his personal experience with overcoming obstacles while on his path to success. The Peyback Foundation provided food and gift-cards for mentors, while the University of Tennessee donated drinks.

Each year, BBBS recognizes a Big Brother and a Big Sister who go above and beyond to positively influence the lives of their Little Brother and Sister. This year, Big Brother and Big Sister of the Year were awarded to Mike Fitzgerald and Katie Bailey. Through their dedication to being positive role models, both are changing the lives of youth in the Knoxville community. Also honored was Vivian Gwinn, BBBS Community Engagement Director, for her 10 years of service and dedication to the agency.
