Knoxville, Tenn. (April 7th, 2016)-Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Tennessee has been named a Big Brothers Big Sisters of America Quality Award winner. The organization is one of the 43 affiliate agencies out of 325 nationwide to receive this honor. This award is used by Big Brothers Big Sisters of America to recognize the strong work ethic of agency leadership and staff in providing high-quality programming for the children the organization serves.
“This past year, we set extremely high goals for ourselves, knowing it would be a challenge to meet and exceed them. Our team came together and worked tirelessly to get everything accomplished that was laid out in front of them,” said Kara Finger, VP of Programs. “It was difficult but fun to see everyone band together and grow stronger as a team.”
In the past year, Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Tennessee has served approximately 878 children and has been focused on increasing fundraising efforts to aid in matching more children with a mentor. To expand its services and impact, the agency will launch a new program, Mentor 2.0, in the Fall. Mentor 2.0 is a technology-enriched, email supported one-to-one youth mentoring program directly targeting qualifying high school students at a local high school.
“This recognition validates the hard work and time our staff has put into improving the quality and number of mentoring relationships we make, which is incredibly important to us,” said Al Williams, Board President. “It’s an honor to serve this organization and its mission.”
The Quality Award reflects the care and attention that goes into each match between a Big and a Little. Big Brothers Big Sisters of East TN will receive award recognition at the 2016 Big Brothers Big Sisters National Conference in Orlando this June.
