September 30, 2021

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Tennessee (BBBS-ETN) Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Tyler Boldin as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Tyler replaces Brent Waugh, who after faithfully leading the organization for more than four years, departed in August to pursue other interests.

“On behalf of our Board and Staff, I am excited to announce Tyler as our new CEO. We conducted a thorough national-level search to identify top candidates” said Nick Wilson, Board President. “It takes a passionate individual to lead this organization. Tyler has served as our Chief Development Officer since 2018 and has done tremendous work in his time here for the youth and families we serve. His enthusiasm for our mission and innovative ideas to increase the organization’s impact on the community were two big reasons why we knew he was the right choice. We look forward to working with Tyler to continue Defending Potential in East Tennessee youth.”

BBBS-ETN celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2020. The organization provides life-changing resources including professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationships, scholarships, and college and career readiness programming to youth age five through adulthood. The agency’s evidence-based programming is focused on creating and supporting relationships that help youth facing adversity develop characteristics needed for academic, social, and economic success. Counties served include Anderson, Blount, Carter, Hawkins, Knox, Sullivan, and Washington.

Priority areas include youth empowerment, youth development, DEI initiatives, community building, K-12 education, juvenile justice, mental health, and rural economic development.

Tyler shared his excitement to step into the CEO role of one of the region’s largest youth-mentoring non-profit organizations.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to lead this incredible agency as we continue to provide pathways to inspire youth equity and empowerment throughout East Tennessee.”
